Dancing

I've talked a lot about dancing on my blog, and my son finally captured a little bit with his phone. Henry and I were the "entertainment" dancers for a USO benefit. We're the couple on the far left. You have to click on the title of the post to see it...and it's not very good. But it does prove I dance...sort of.

More Tennis

This is a tennis warm up suit I just finished tonight. The wavy hem was unintentional, but I like it. To finish the bottom edge of the top I applied a single fold bias trim, stitching very carefully. But the fabric is a kind of knitted fleece and stretched, regardless of how hard I tried not to. In the end I just went with the flow and ended up with a casual flounce around the hem. I really like this fabric, which I got from Fabric Mart on sale. It's almost a sweater knit (in fact I guess it IS a sweater knit). This will be comfortable on the courts on a day like today, which was overcast and about 60 degrees with a light wind. Not really cold, but not really warm either. We've been having a lot of days like that this winter. Plus, I like to wear this style around the house and even have been known to sleep in them. Double duty clothes!

Tennis Clothes

For a mini SWAP over at Artisan’s Square (called a six-pack) I’ve been making clothes for my actual lifestyle.  This includes tennis a couple of times a week.  This is my third, and most successful attempt because I’ve found the right sort of fabric to fall gracefully around my old-age thighs.  Cotton seems to stand straight out.  This is all lycra (meant for swimsuits, really.)  But it doesn’t seem as if it will be too hot in Atlanta summers.  We’ll hope for the best.  Perhaps a few action shots will be arriving in a couple of months!
