Inching on Pink

I'm still working on the pink dress destined for Easter Sunday.  Since I sewed the lining for a different look, and rejected that idea, I decided to salvage the lining in the current bodice.  I very, very carefully pinned and basted it everywhere I could and then finally smoothed it out at the neckline.  Both necklines were very different from each other, so I just freehand chalked a new neckline using my french curve ruler, then serged both together at the edge.  I've cut bias strips of the same fabric and have them mostly attached in a "stitch in the ditch" finish.  When that is complete I only have the hem to do, and decide where I want additional flowers from the sleeve material placed on the bodice.

And as long as I was freewheeling anyway, I decided to do a false flyfront to enlarge the abdomen area of my blue pants.  I'll never tuck a blouse in these, anyway, so it will always be covered.

Necessity is the mother of invention, you know!

So then we went to a West Coast Swing lesson.  This is my favorite dance, and if my embedded YouTube video works you will be able to see why.  The object is to dance as if you were on ice;  these dancers do it beautifully.  We learned a couple of the easy easy easy moves tonight but I will never be able to dance like this.  It's like my sewing compared to the House of Chanel.  But that doesn't mean I don't even try!

I take my hat off to you for being able to try to dance - I was born with two left feet - doesn't bode well for the first wedding dance ha ha.
