A Wedding in July
My sister's granddaughter (my grandniece) is being married in Austin in July. Several of the dresses I've recently posted about are prototypes for the dress I want to make to wear to this wedding (there is also the rehersal dinner to consider). So I was interested to find a series of posts from Trish Jett regarding what to wear if one is the mother of the bride/groom. Naturally I'm three steps below that rank, but still represent the family of the bride and want to look very fashionable.
The pattern I'm currently making up is similar to the one I've posted here (the actual pattern seems to have disappeared from Simplicity's website) but I'm using my TNT SureFit Designs bodice and a very bold print
with the pink Betsy Johnson shoes from Zappos.com
or the darker pink from Geox
So I felt I was pretty far along on my journey for the perfect outfit for an outdoor July wedding in Texas. But A Femme d'Un Certain Age has made me realize that I'm not that far along after all. And in addition, I'm not a Frenchwoman, with their widely acknowledged flair.

I love the fabric and shoe combination and the dress design should be perfect for beautiful Austin. I went there last year for the first time and just loved it.
