Okay, the OTHER thing going on my life right now...

Is always going on in my life...kinda like sewing is always in the back of my mind...and that is moving house.  I was a Realtor for most of my career and as a single parent I also kept food on the table by renovating homes.  Now, I wasn't a "flipper" in today's terms, which nowadays means turning homes over fast.  No, I could not afford that.  I moved into these horrible little places and actually lived in them as the work was done, piecemeal, often by a friend or by myself as I could afford it.  Then, as soon as the house was as cute as it could be, I sold it and moved to another horrible little house.  Believe it or not, I liked it.  It's creative, like sewing, and something I have literally wanted to do since I was about ten years old.   So I feel lucky that I could do what I loved as a career, and I was successful at it.  I have two sayings:  "I never met a wall I didn't want to remove" and "I never buy property retail".

So now the market is STILL in the tank (although up 15% in Atlanta this year) and my house still has massive amounts of work to be done before throwing it on the market, and I'm older.  Much older.  So things are going much slower.  But the drive is as strong as ever and I want to get my hands on a new project.  My big brick "California" ranch is on two acres, with a full basement and a barn.  I chose it because my late husband wanted that barn, and of course the house needed "a little work".  But now I think I'm ready for a little cottage...of course, it will still need "a little work".

Wow - I admire you! It's exhausting just thinking about renovating - If I manage to paint 5 windowframes a summer (ok, inside and out), I think I'm doing really well!
