The Dolly Clackett Dress
One of my very favorite blogs is Roisin's, who is always funny, bright, and well dressed in what's come to be known as her Dolly Clackett dress. Roisin is so popular among the sewing and blogging crowd that, in honor of her upcoming nuptials, there was a Sew Dolly Clackett competition. I believe nearly 300 women sewed a version of her dress. I did not enter, partly because I live on the wrong continent and mostly because I was too lazy to get started. However, this dress has all the elements. A loud print, quilting cotton, and a simple silhouette with a fitted bodice and full skirt. I took the picture this afternoon and since ripped off the bodice to add darts to the back, ripped out the zipper and handpicked it, and am in the process of stitching the hem. To make it truly Dolly Clackett, though, I'd have to have killer heels and a gorgeous door to photograph myself in front of. That, or Photoshop. I don't have any of those so a hanger shot will have to do until at least Monday, when I could wear it to our dance practice.
