Some thoughts on the 2008 election

This week set an historical precendent in the United States as an African-American was elected to be the next President. Here in Georgia, some consternation was voiced. However, I am optimistic about the future as I consider this man to be intelligent, thoughtful, and having a world view that has been sadly lacking in the presidency of George Bush. Like most of America, I have great hopes for the future of this country. One of the best quotes I've heard in a long time comes from Winston Churchill: "Americans usually get things right, after trying everything else first."
