The Newest Sewing Club

My hometown is quite large and has a number of sewing clubs associated with the American Sewing Guild.  I was fortunate enough to be elected co-chair of the newest, which is called Sew Fitting.  The name is appropriate because some of our groups focus on quilting, embroidery, crafting or other forms of sewing as well as garments.  Our club is dedicated not only to garment sewing, but as our name implies, perfecting fit.  We are fortunate enough to have a number of skilled garment makers in the group and we will benefit hugely from their expertise.

But, whew!  How glad I am to have most of this week over.  I have ducked volunteering for most of my life but it's come back to haunt me.  I'm captain of my tennis team, chair of the sewing club, and had a big dance to be in charge of last night.  All of my hobbies turned into work at once.  I guess it's time for me to give back, though.  Now that I've made it through our first Sew Fitting meeting I guess I'll be past the "butterflies in the stomach" syndrome.  And this will be my second season of being captain of the tennis team so I know what I'm doing (she famously said just before the crash).  And the decorating...well I received rave reviews at the dance.  Gotta keep my head low there.

You are busy and engaged in your hobbies! I understand the interest in taking on a volunteer position in order to help. Good for you!
