We went up to Chattanooga on Wednesday and stayed at the Choo-Choo hotel. They have a delightful outdoor area with lots of flower beds, fountains, and twinkle lights. The pool (indoor) is also great, and I had a wonderful, relaxing time for a couple of days. Friday we moved on to Nashville and I had to stop at Textile Fabrics before even checking into the hotel. I didn't get the fabric I was looking for, to match a cadet blue wool I got from Candlelight Valley's out of business sale, but of course I picked up a number of other pieces. The two I'm most excited about are: a silk jersey (my first) and a beautiful silk to go with the brown wool I got from Candelight Valley. I hope to make some really well made garments from all of the above. The red outfit is my first trial with slinky knit. It was purchased on sale over a year and a half ago. It was so inexpensive I didn't mind if I failed with this, since it's also a new pattern from Pamela's Patterns. However, luckily, both turned out well and I wore the outfit to dinner in the Pizza diner at the Choo-Choo and in Nashville for a fabulous steak dinner at the Hickory Steakhouse in the Opryland Hotel Friday night. We met Patrick in Nashville so that was a super plus. Saturday morning I also took him to breakfast before he caught a taxi to go to Connecticut to meet his family. He hasn't seen them for almost a month so he was so eager to get there. He will take a week of vacation with them and then everyone will head home...DGD starts kindergarten this fall!
